A Bigger Boat...

Welcome to the new Film Studies A level blog, where you will find course notes, film analysis, hints and tips on exams and coursework, past papers and everything you could possibly need to help you get a top grade in the subject.

This blog will cover all the concepts you will need to consider, such as narrative, spectatorship and ideology, alongside detailed definitions of camera shots, editing techniques, sound and mise-en-scene complete with examples from the films we have chosen to study.

Each individual film on the course has its own separate individual blog, where you will find close textual analysis and contextual information essential for the questions you will be asked in the exam. There are also blogs for Silent Cinema - where we study four short films by the comedian Buster Keaton - and the Short Film Selection you need to study in preparation for your coursework. Please keep an eye on all of the separate blogs as they will be updated frequently.

Links to the blogs for each individual film can be found below.
